The City of Wahoo Utilities Department is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a Power Plant Operator. This position plays a critical role in maintaining reliable electric service throughout our power district and offers opportunities for training, certifications, and long-term career growth. What You'll Do As a Power Plant Operator, you'll assist with: Operation and monitoring of the City's power generation equipment and systems Maintenance and overhaul of diesel engines, fleet equipment, and plant machinery Substation switching operations as directed by dispatchers Equipment inspections, operational readings, and recordkeeping Operation of trucks, forklifts, loaders, backhoes, and other utility equipment Emergency response and rotating on-call duties as needed Maintaining a safe and efficient work environment while serving the community ✅ What We're Looking For Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license Ability to report to the work site within 15 minutes under normal weather conditions Ability to work a rotating schedule, including weekend on-call assignments Certifications (or Ability to Obtain) Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) Substation Switchman Certification Certified Chemical/Pesticide Applicator License ✨ Don't have every certification yet?
