Job Description We are seeking a Radiological Operator / Industrial Technician to support a first-of-a-kind (FOAK) TRISO nuclear fuel manufacturing program with BWXT. This individual will be responsible for performing radiological monitoring and contamination control while also supporting the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large-scale industrial manufacturing equipment. The role involves conducting radiation surveys, supporting Radiological Work Permits (RWPs), and ensuring compliance with ALARA principles, while working directly on process equipment such as furnaces, gloveboxes, and material handling systems. The candidate will partner closely with engineering and operations teams to support equipment startup, process optimization, and safe execution of work in radiological areas. Responsibilities include maintaining radiation detection instruments, supporting equipment maintenance and repair, and tracking radiological conditions during active operations. This position plays a key role in both protecting personnel and enabling production within a highly regulated nuclear environment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, hands-on, and experienced working in both radiological and industrial settings. Salary ranges from 75K-95K. Skills and Requirements 2-5+ years of experience in radiological controls, radiation protection, or health physics AND/OR industrial technician/maintenance roles Experience working in nuclear environments (DOE, NRC, Navy nuclear, or similar) Hands-on experience with industrial equipment (e.g., furnaces, pumps, vacuum systems, gloveboxes, mechanical systems) Strong understanding of ALARA principles and radiological safety practices Experience performing contamination, dose rate, and airborne surveys Ability to read procedures, mechanical drawings, or P&IDs Comfortable working in PPE, controlled areas, and around hazardous/radioactive materials Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude DOE Radiological Control Technician (RCT) qualification or Navy Nuke ELT/MM background Experience in fuel fabrication, materials processing, or high-temperature systems Exposure to TRISO fuel, coatings, or particle processing environments NQA-1 or nuclear quality program experience Experience supporting equipment startup or pilot manufacturing facilities
