Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High School Diploma or GED Journeyman Certification from a Bonafide Apprenticeship program preferred Experience in utility dispatching Experience in electric, water/wastewater and gas operations Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Assists in the construction, operation and maintenance of gas, water, wastewater, or electric systems under close supervision of a qualified Journeyman or those of a higher operator level. Monitors and directs the activities of field personnel using all forms of communications equipment required to operate, maintain and service the electric, water/wastewater and gas systems. Maintains all SCADA System Control records, including but not limited to maps, service calls, dispatching, collection and analysis of system data as required. Prepares, issues and/or dispatches approved routine switching orders for clearance, sectionalizing trouble, restoring service and for putting new facilities in service. Communicates directly with field personnel to issue holds on a circuit, directs the installation or removal of hold tags and coordinates activities associated with service disconnects, service restoration and switching. Monitors the electric, water/wastewater, gas systems and takes corrective action on system events. Assists in the operation of the electric, water/wastewater and gas systems as required. Operates office equipment associated with record keeping including computerized systems. Performs emergency procedures to restore electrical, water/wastewater or gas service. Communicates directly with other persons both inside and outside NTUA as required for safe and reliable operation of the utility systems. Communicates directly with customers and others regarding service. Communicates directly with NTUA or emergency service personnel and other agencies requesting assistance; reports accidents or hazards and initiates appropriate action. Notifies appropriate agencies and prepares reports as necessary. Maintains a current knowledge of applicable company policies, procedures, directives, standards, National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, or other related codes and regulations. Applies new technology as adopted by NTUA by becoming thoroughly knowledgeable and remaining current of said changes. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
