Substation Commissioning Supervisor-Level 4 - Lead Job Description As a Substation Commissioning Supervisor-Level 4 - Lead, you will direct the planning, execution, and testing of new construction power plant commissioning. You will work within defined budgets, schedules, and environmental targets to ensure successful project completion. You will also interact with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, OEM equipment suppliers, utilities, and regional transmission system operators to develop and manage a fully integrated commissioning plan. Responsibilities Define commissioning strategy and long-term planning for power plant projects. Oversee high-level coordination between regulatory bodies, utilities, and corporate leadership. Ensure enterprise-wide implementation of best practices for commissioning. Direct teams in resolving complex technical, contractual, and regulatory issues. Serve as a key advisor to leadership and executive teams on commissioning initiatives. Ensure commissioning activities for assigned projects are performed with high quality and adhere to all safety policies. Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start-up personnel, third-party start-up contractors, and operations personnel on-site. Ensure project reliability at operational turnover, minimizing lost time in initial operation. Ensure compliance with all project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables. Interface with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to achieve project energization dates. Manage onsite commissioning personnel. Interface with project's designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Essential Skills Minimum of 15 years of experience in power plant commissioning. Strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning. Knowledge of electrical construction and commissioning means and methods, including NEC and NFPA. Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting. Experience with E&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup, and troubleshooting. Experience with protection and controls implementation and troubleshooting. Ability to perform drawing review and quality control inspection. Proficiency in progress reporting. Computer skills including Outlook, PDF editing, Word, Excel, document control systems, and PowerPoint. Ability to manage third parties and suppliers. Ability to manage direct report team members. Understanding of scheduling and planning. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Self-starter with a high drive for quality, execution, and safety. 5 years of experience in on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction start-up and commissioning. 3 years of experience working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction start-up. Ability to interact with engineering personnel on highly technical issues and with construction personnel on constructability, schedule, and cost issues. Ability to multitask and oversee multiple projects at once. Work Environment This position is located onsite at a substation, where the environment involves direct interaction with various project stakeholders including EPC contractors and OEM equipment suppliers. The role requires adherence to all safety policies and involves substantial coordination with both engineering and construction teams. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Juno Beach, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
