DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on operating and maintaining steam-generating systems that support essential facility needs. Your work ensures safe, efficient plant performance while completing mechanical, testing, and operational tasks. As a Utility Plant Operator 2, you will perform the following duties:

Boiler Operation:

Operate and maintain steam-generating boilers to meet daily facility demand

Equipment Management:

Regulate pumps, compressors, fans, and related systems needed for steam production

Water Testing:

Test water softness, chemical levels, and boiler conditions, and adjust materials as required

Record Keeping:

Record plant conditions, track equipment performance, and complete daily cleaning tasks

Maintenance Tasks:

Repair, install, and modify plant equipment, and support emergency generator operations

Lead Responsibilities:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Relief Operator which is the swing shift between 1st shift (7:00 a.m.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

Special Requirements:

You must be in possession of an active Class C motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:
