Job Description
THE POSITION
As a Utility Plant Operator 2 with South Mountain Restoration Center, you will join a dedicated team that keeps essential steam systems running smoothly. This role focuses on operating and maintaining steam-generating systems that support essential facility needs. Your work ensures safe, efficient plant performance while completing mechanical, testing, and operational tasks. As a Utility Plant Operator 2, you will perform the following duties:Boiler Operation:
Operate and maintain steam-generating boilers to meet daily facility demandEquipment Management:
Regulate pumps, compressors, fans, and related systems needed for steam productionWater Testing:
Test water softness, chemical levels, and boiler conditions, and adjust materials as requiredRecord Keeping:
Record plant conditions, track equipment performance, and complete daily cleaning tasksMaintenance Tasks:
Repair, install, and modify plant equipment, and support emergency generator operationsLead Responsibilities:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Relief Operator which is the swing shift between 1st shift (7:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:00 p.m.
- 11:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.Special Requirements:
You must be in possession of an active Class C motor vehicle license.Other Requirements:
