Shady Grove Utility District is seeking an experienced Water Utility Operator to join our team. This position is intended for an experienced, hands-on operator who is comfortable working in the field, operating heavy equipment, repairing water lines, and performing the day-to-day work required to maintain a public water distribution system.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid CDL required with a good driving record
• Proven hands-on experience operating a backhoe
• Proven hands-on experience operating a mini excavator
• Proven hands-on experience operating a skid steer
• Experience with water line installation and repair
• Ability to safely locate, expose, repair, and backfill water lines
• Experience working around underground utilities
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Ability to respond to emergency water leaks and service interruptions
• Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work effectively as part of a crew

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Previous experience with a water utility, municipal utility, underground utility contractor, or similar water distribution operation is strongly preferred. Experience with water mains, service lines, valves, hydrants, meters, leak repair, and related distribution system maintenance is a plus.

POSITION DETAILS

Full-Time Pay Range:

$22.00-$30.00/hour DOE We are looking for an experienced operator who can bring proven field and equipment skills to our team. Applicants must meet the CDL and equipment-operation requirements listed above. Shady Grove Utility District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
