Job Description

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Lease Operator/Gauger to support the safe and efficient operation of oil wells, production facilities, and associated equipment. This position is responsible for monitoring production operations, optimizing equipment performance, conducting facility inspections, supporting maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental requirements. An exceptional candidate will have hands-on experience operating oil and water separation facilities, performing well surveillance, troubleshooting production equipment, and supporting facility start-up and operational activities. Candidates must be capable of working independently while maintaining effective communication with team members.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate and monitor oil production wells, processing facilities, and associated equipment. Serve as the primary operations contact for assigned wells and facilities. Monitor production systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Understand process flow, equipment line-ups, and facility operating conditions. Review operational data, process trends, and facility schematics to optimize performance. Conduct routine field inspections using visual, auditory, and physical observations to identify equipment or process issues. Gauge tanks, read meters, collect product samples, and accurately record production data. Monitor differential pressures, temperatures, flow rates, chemical injection rates, and other operating parameters. Identify and address leaks, freezing conditions, overheating, corrosion, and abnormal operating conditions. Perform visual maintenance inspections to ensure equipment operates within established performance limits. Adjust process parameters to maintain production targets and product specifications. Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling activities as required. Maintain accurate electronic and paper production records, gauge sheets, and operational logs. Perform basic maintenance activities including lubrication, filter changes, tightening valve packing, clearing equipment, and other routine tasks. Communicate facility conditions, operational changes, and equipment issues to supervisors and team members. Support winterization and seasonal equipment preparation activities. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. Support environmental compliance programs and minimize operational impacts including spills, emissions, and product losses. Support emergency response activities and operational incident reporting. Work independently while contributing to overall team objectives and operational goals.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma required; technical certification, trade school training, or college coursework preferred. Previous experience as a Lease Operator, Production Operator, Field Operator, Pumper, or related oil and gas operations position. Strong knowledge of oil and water production operations. Experience operating and maintaining surface production equipment. Knowledge of separation equipment, tanks, pumps, piping systems, valves, and production facilities. Ability to troubleshoot operational and equipment issues. Strong mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with diverse work groups. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Willingness to work rotating shifts and respond to call-outs as operational needs require. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with oil and water separation facilities. Experience performing production optimization and well surveillance activities. Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements related to oil and gas operations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry more than 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and elevated structures. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment:
Field-based position supporting oil production operations. Rotating shift schedule with potential nights, weekends, and holiday coverage. On-call availability may be required. Exposure to production equipment, process systems, and outdoor operating conditions. Independent work environment requiring strong operational judgement and decision-making skills.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
