Job Description

General Definition of work: The Water Plant Operator Trainee performs a variety of duties to support the safe and efficient operation of water treatment facilities. Responsibilities include conducting water quality tests, recording and maintaining accurate analysis data, and monitoring treatment systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitors chemical dosage to acquire proper water quality results. Inspects and monitors plant equipment to maintain adequate operating conditions. Maintains adequate water level and pressure in the distribution system. Collects and tests water samples according to TCEQ, EPA and District standards. Perfo1ms routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of water plant. Assists with minor/major repairs or replacement of plant equipment. Records operational data such as meter and gauge readings in a daily basis. Performs other related duties as assigned to enhance the overall operations and services of the department.
Requirements:
Job requires a diploma from an accredited high school or GED equivalent. 1-3 years of related work experience. Three-year related work experience is preferred. District may hire Operator Trainee with no previous work experience. Must be able to obtain a Class D within one year of employment Must possess a valid Texas Drivers Class C License. Must have basic computer and data entry skills Must be able to lift 50 pounds and pass a fit for duty physical examination.
