Job Description
The Pump Station General Superintendent is responsible for the overall field management, coordination, and successful execution of pump station construction projects. This position provides leadership to project superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards, contract specifications, and regulatory requirements. The General Superintendent serves as the primary field leader, ensuring efficient operations while maintaining strong communication with project management, owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and supervision for multiple pump station and civil utility construction projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all field construction activities from mobilization through project completion.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, manpower plans, and equipment utilization plans.
- Supervise and mentor superintendents, foremen, and field personnel.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve field issues.
- Work with Project Managers on costs, schedules, and change orders.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Monitor installation of wet wells, lift stations, pumps, motors, force mains, gravity sewer, water mains, valve vaults, electrical conduit, mechanical piping, grading, and concrete structures.
- Maintain reports and documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and enforce company policies. Safety Responsibilities
- Promote a zero-incident safety culture.
- Ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct safety meetings and inspections.
- Enforce PPE and safe work practices.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions. Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years heavy civil construction experience.
- Engineering degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years supervising pump station or utility infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of municipal pump stations, underground utilities, concrete structures, and mechanical installations.
- Ability to read plans and specifications.
- Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license. Physical Requirements
- Work outdoors in varying weather.
- Walk uneven terrain and climb ladders.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
