A Pre-Press Technician operates machinery or equipment used in the first stage of a printing process; makes adjustments to layout, color, images, and text before a document is sent to the press.
Graphic Production Artist - Prepress Technician Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, General Gifts is the premier domestic manufacturer of custom souvenirs and personalized products for the gift trade throughout the United States, Caribbean and Mexico. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented and can finalize files created by our in-house design team on a Mac platform for in-house print production. You will be finalizing art which has been created by our graphic artists.
Responsibilities Art Finalization:
Must be experienced in adding name lists using threaded text and location drop symbols onto multiple artboards in Illustrator, then finalizing the file into a high resolution PDF suitable for our print and production teams Knowledge of bleed, trim and live areas and how to place them on multiple artboards Must be able to create multiple artboard templates without using existing templates An understanding of color correction, saturation, and white gradient Candidate must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite utilizing Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat Experience in setting up files for laser and plotter cutting
Mechanical Drawing:
Ability to draw mechanicals to scale in Illustrator for numerous projects including display racks, counter displays, gift boxes, 3D gifts and the like. Production artist will forward rack assembly directions to our warehouse team or templates to graphic artists to design art. Each project will differ due to product, length of name list, size of product, rack type, or packaging
Photography:
The ideal candidate will be proficient in photography and is responsible for taking images of racks and products, then masking said images Key Responsibilities Support production workflows by preparing files for print while ensuring all assets meet technical specifications for various printers and lasers. Ensure print files meet our technical specifications and quality standards Prepress checklist including proofreading final files and ensure they are optimized for printing Correct any potential issues prior to production Adhere to brand guidelines Responsible for archiving completed files Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks Preferred skills Two or more years experience employed as a production artist or pre-press technician, working onsite Portfolio Please attach your production work, Adobe Illustrator experience and mechanical drawings Qualifications Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) Skilled in layout design, typesetting, color theory, typography, and visual design principles to create cohesive and aesthetically pleasing visuals. Ability to manipulate photoshop files effectively using photo manipulation techniques; experience with sign manufacturing, large-format or print advertising is advantageous. Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate ideas clearly to team members and stakeholders. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
