This position is ideal for a mechanically minded technician who is comfortable working with 3D scanning equipment, computers, and technical software. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating 3D laser scanning equipment, processing scan data (cleaning/merging), create usable
STL/STEP
files, troubleshoot the printer when needed, maintain the equipment and understand tolerances. This is a hands-on technical position that combines 3D scanning, mechanical measurement, computer technology, and equipment operation. An engineering degree is not necessarily required; strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with 3D scanning technology are highly valued. Key Responsibilities Operate 3D laser scanning equipment to capture accurate dimensional data. Set up and perform scans of components, equipment, and parts. Process, clean, and organize 3D scan data. Work with STL, mesh, and other 3D data formats. Perform basic dimensional measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools. Assist with converting scan data into usable CAD models and files. Support basic reverse-engineering activities. Develop an understanding of dimensional tolerances and measurement requirements. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot 3D scanning and related equipment. Assist with operation and troubleshooting of 3D printers and other technical equipment as needed. Identify equipment or software issues and assist with troubleshooting and resolution. Learn and utilize various scanner, printer, and related software platforms. Maintain organized digital files and project documentation. Work closely with other team members to complete scanning and technical projects accurately and efficiently. Qualifications 2-5 years of experience with 3D scanning, laser scanning, metrology, 3D printing, or a related technical field preferred. Hands-on experience operating 3D scanning equipment. Familiarity with CAD software and basic CAD concepts. Experience with STL files, mesh processing, or 3D data. Basic understanding of reverse engineering concepts. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability. Experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and technical equipment. Basic computer and networking skills. Ability to learn new scanning, measurement, and technical software. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to work independently as well as as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Experience with industrial3D laser scanning or metrology. Experience working with scan-to-CAD workflows. Experience creating or modifying CAD models from 3D scan data. Experience operating and maintaining 3D printers. Experience with reverse engineering of mechanical components. Familiarity with dimensional tolerances and inspection processes. Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or mechanical environment.
Pay:
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour
