Job Description

Job Title:
Press Brake Set-Up Operator Job Description The Press Brake Set-Up Operator is responsible for setting up and operating press brake machines to produce precise sheet metal components used in both small and large-scale products. This role requires accurate first-piece setup using calipers and protractors, careful interpretation of blueprints and work instructions, and the use of basic CNC controls to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards. Responsibilities Set up press brake machines for part runs by loading and aligning dies according to job specifications. Use calipers, protractors, micrometers, and gauges to verify that the first-piece part meets blueprint requirements and specified tolerances. Interpret and follow complex blueprints and work instructions to produce accurate sheet metal components. Operate press brake equipment and basic CNC controls to form parts to required dimensions. Perform part inspections throughout the run to maintain tolerances of +/- .005 and ensure consistent quality. Accurately record production data, including run time, quantities produced, and any rejected parts. Use tape measures and other measuring tools to confirm dimensions and verify conformance to specifications. Follow established fabrication and machine operation procedures to maintain safe and efficient production. Complete documentation after first-piece inspection and maintain records as required. Work collaboratively in a custom job shop environment to support welding and fabrication operations as needed. Essential Skills At least 1-2 years of experience operating a press brake in a production or job shop environment. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and complex work instructions. Ability to use quality tools, including micrometers, calipers, protractors, gauges, and tape measures. Demonstrated experience in part inspection and maintaining tolerances of +/- .005. Experience with press brake set-up, including die selection, loading, and alignment. Ability to operate basic CNC controls on press brake equipment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and documentation. Capability to accurately record production data such as run time, quantities produced, and rejected parts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in sheet metal fabrication and machine operation. Experience working with brake press machines in a custom job shop environment. Solid understanding of general fabrication processes and quality standards. Comfort working with various measuring instruments for precision work. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
