Job Description

Press Brake Operator Job Description Wiederhoeft Manufacturing is looking for an experienced Brake Press Operator to enhance the productivity of our company. The successful candidate should be able to use judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of setups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures. Responsible for operation, setting up machine and inspection of parts to assure conformance will be required. During operations will be required to maintain cleanliness of the machine and areas. While not inclusive to just the press brake. You may learn and use other equipment such as the plasma, waterjet, and band saws. General support equipment includes the use of small torch cutting equipment, forklift and a variety of small hand tools. If you have experience working for a manufacturing business, we encourage you to submit an application for this position. Responsibilities
  • Review samples, blueprints, or instructions to understand specifications of output
  • Perform proper set up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories to be used on projects
  • Excellent mechanical skills, including comfort with using tools to make simple repairs
  • Take measurements and mark material for forming
  • Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects
  • Capable of watching gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Keeping the work environment safe.
  • Ability to calculate, blank sizes, bend locations, appropriate tonnage and tooling for each part being formed.
  • Perform loading and unloading of material by changing tools and select required machine programs. Requirements
  • Eligible to train underneath more experienced operators
  • Computer operation, downloading programs, generating programs from files and basic keyboarding skills
  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements
  • Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills.
  • Must possess strong basic math skills
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items and able to stand or be physical demanding positions for long periods of time
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset.
