NIGHT SHIFT - 9PM - 7AM
Description:
The Press Brake/Punch Operator will set up and operate press brakes, horizontal bending machines, turret punches, and inline punches to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts. The operator will be responsible for preparing raw materials into finished products to correct length and shape in accordance with customer requirements using CNC equipment. Operator is responsible for making machine tool adjustments and edit programs for tooling location assignments and application. Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull 1-50 lbs frequently. Must be able to squat, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, turn, grasp, and reach overhead and outward frequently. Must be comfortable sitting, standing, and walking for 1-10 hours per day.
Duties:
- Interpret blueprints, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Select dies, accessories, and materials on presses.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate bending, punching and forming factors.
- Retrieve, input, and/or edit computerized machine control media.
- Start and observe machine operation, regularly checking part output, to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance conditions and adjust machine controls as required.
- Verify dimensions of finished part using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, calipers, and Virtek laser inspection.
- Properly deburr edges and holes of part.
Protect parts from damage during run and between subsequent operations. Finish product with grinders, sanders, and hand tools.
Perform daily maintenance to assigned equipment to keep in proper working order.
Read blueprints to ascertain correct specifications and perform in-process inspections.
Safely move material using a forklift and/or pallet jack.
Clean and maintain an orderly work area using the 5S procedure set up.
Assist other individuals in the area when needed.
Communicate effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
Promote teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to company policies, process, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- 5 years experience
- Ability to set up and operate press brakes.
- Ability to select appropriate punches and dies for bending.
- Determine when a measurement is falling out of spec and make necessary adjustments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, using various view orientations.
- Ability to interpret bill of materials, calculate bend allowance for various materials.
- Clean and maintain punches and dies
- Complete set up and production operations within the expected routed times
- Identify proper materials, overall sizes, finish requirements, etc.
- Program and adjust CNC program values as needed.
- Work safely, abiding by all safety requirements High school diploma or equivalent may be required.
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints, tape measure, calipers, and other shop drawing aids.
Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.
Understand and support company policies and procedures.
Must have a safety-conscious attitude.
Must have an excellent attendance record.
Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
