Job Title:
Machine Operator - Press Brake (2nd Shift) Job Description This 2nd shift Machine Operator - Press Brake role is a hands-on position in a sheet metal fabrication environment, responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake and related metal fabrication equipment to produce high-quality metal components. The operator interprets engineering drawings, performs precise measurements and quality inspections, and ensures safe, efficient production throughout the shift. Responsibilities Set up and operate press brake machines and related metal fabrication equipment, including shears, saws, and drill presses, to produce metal components to specification. Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine proper machine setup, tooling selection, and production sequence. Select, install, and change tools, dies, and equipment based on specific job requirements and material types. Perform regular quality checks and inspections using appropriate measuring tools to verify parts meet dimensional and visual specifications. Adjust machine settings, tooling, and process parameters to correct non-conforming output and maintain consistent product quality. Conduct routine operator maintenance on equipment, including lubrication, tooling adjustments, and basic calibration checks. Monitor production runs for efficiency, accuracy, and potential issues, and promptly communicate any concerns impacting quality or output. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all safety procedures and housekeeping standards. Assist in training and guiding other machine operators as needed to support team performance and cross-training. Lift materials and products up to 75 pounds regularly and perform frequent standing, bending, and movement throughout the shift to support production needs. Essential Skills Proven experience operating press brake machines in a production or manufacturing environment. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions. Solid understanding of metric measurements and the ability to perform accurate dimensional checks. Experience working in a sheet metal fabrication or sheet metal manufacturing environment. Proficiency using measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and other inspection devices. Experience with calibration equipment or performing basic calibration checks on production tools and machines. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor machine and tooling issues. High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts. Ability to perform general labor tasks associated with metal fabrication and machine operation. Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and to stand, bend, and move throughout the entire shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in sheet metal fabrication is preferred. Familiarity with an ITAR-controlled manufacturing environment. Comfort using a variety of hand tools in a production setting. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions consistently. Willingness to assist with training and cross-training within the team. Interest in long-term growth and advancement within a manufacturing environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a clean, well-maintained sheet metal manufacturing facility in Warwick, RI, operating on a 2nd shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The environment is organized and safety-focused, with press brakes, shears, saws, drill presses, measuring tools, and calibration equipment used daily. The facility can get hot at times due to manufacturing operations, and the work requires frequent standing, bending, and movement throughout the shift, as well as regularly lifting up to 75 pounds. The position includes a shift differential for 2nd shift and offers a contract-to-hire structure with potential for a pay increase upon conversion. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Warwick, RI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
