Job Description

Position Summary The Press Operator I is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining press machines to manufacture high-quality powder metal parts according to specifications. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate a compacting press in a stationary position for long periods of time.
  • Make necessary adjustments to press settings to produce parts to specification sheets.
  • Maintain product quality by frequently performing in-process checks and detection of problems.
  • Load powder (if required) by moving up to 40 lbs to place powder into a press hopper.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to equipment as required.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork to maintain traceability and cost information. Safely operate equipment used in the various production processes.
  • Learn and understand proper containment of non-conforming material.
  • Ensure all materials and equipment are organized, used and stored properly.
  • Work safely at all times, following OSHA requirements of the job as well as company safety policies.
Keep work area clean, organized and free from clutter, or any potential safety hazards. May be requested to operate a forklift to move products and materials Perform additional duties as requested. Minimum Job Requirements High School diploma or GED Ability to apply concepts of basic math (add, subtract, divide & multiply) in all units of measure. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals Experience operating a standard forklift preferred, and ability to obtain forklift certification. Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
  • Ability to be moderately physically active (standing, walking, reaching, crouching.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
