Position summary:
It is the responsibility of the console operator to operate control panels for the knife at cutting lines. The operator is responsible for productivity, cutting quality, and minimizing knife waste.
Educational requirements:
High school diploma or GED Skills and experience: Previous experience in carpet manufacturing preferred Good communication skills, written and verbal Basic math skills required Some leadership experience.
Essential duties:
Operate control panel for the knife Keep carpet lined up and running squarely into press. Maintain quality of cuts Send tiles to quality lab to ensure that tile sizes are within specifications Call out all color changes to alert inspectors and boxers that a new run is starting Complete production paperwork for the shift Must have detailed knowledge of all jobs on the cutting line. Assume leadership role during critical times or when Supervisor is away from the line Work with maintenance staff to change knife or resolve quality issues related to cutting line Maintain housekeeping Comply with safety rules Comply with environmental regulations Be aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) Ensure ISO procedures are followed. Understand and support Interface commitment to sustainability.
