Job Description
The Opportunity The Die Cutter Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of die cutting equipment to produce high-quality packaging products that meet customer specifications. This role ensures efficient production performance through machine setup, make-readies, quality inspections, process adjustments, and preventative maintenance while supporting a safe and collaborative manufacturing environment. How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock Operate andmaintaindie cutting equipment to meet production, quality, and safety standards. Review job tickets and production specifications todeterminemachine setup requirements. Monitor machine performance andidentifyoperational issues requiring adjustments or corrective action. Perform make-readies and routine production adjustments tomaintainefficiency and product quality. Follow established operating procedures, work instructions, and environmental and safety guidelines. Maintain production records and accurately document operating data and job performance metrics. Inspect products throughout production to ensure compliance with customer requirements. Remove, repair, and replace damaged materials or components usingappropriate handtools. Train and support team members in machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting activities. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance activities. Troubleshoot equipment and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime. Collaborate across departments to improve productivity and support operational goals. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform other duties as assigned. What You Need to Succeed Minimum two years of machine operating experience, preferably with board stock, paperboard, or flatbed die cutting equipment. Knowledge of Bobst die cutting equipment preferred. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance procedures, and technical documents. Basic computer anddata-entryskills. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Ability to use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment. Knowledge of die repair, spotting sheets, stripping boards, counters, matrix systems, underlaying, and make-ready processes. Ability to recognize common packaging defects and take corrective action. Ability to use pre-make-ready tables and related tooling. Successful completion of color vision and color hue testing requirements. Strong attendance record and commitment to workplace safety. Ability to perform all essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical Demands This position requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, balancing, pushing, pulling, repetitive hand movements, and frequent use of hands and fingers. Employees regularly lift up to 25 pounds and frequently handle materials up to 50 pounds. The role requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment where noise levels are frequently loud due to operating machinery.
