Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and engaged team member to join our growing organization. The team leader in cabinet finishing is a working leadership role responsible for overseeing and supporting finishing operations, including sanding, staining, painting, and coating of cabinet components and doors. This position ensures finishing processes meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements while providing daily leadership, direction, and support to finishing team members. Some responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Keep work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards Enforce all safety policies, including chemical handling, ventilation requirements, PPE, and lockout/tagout Lead and support a finishing team in daily finishing operations Coordinate workflow for sanding, staining, painting, sealing, and touch-up processes Ensure team members follow work orders, finish specifications, and standard operating procedures Monitor quality, consistency, color matching, and finish appearance Assign tasks, balance workloads, and adjust priorities to meet production goals Train, coach, and mentor team members on finishing techniques, safety practices, and quality standards Serve as first-level problem solver for finish defects, rework, or process issues Conduct routine quality inspections and ensure corrective actions are taken as needed Communicate material needs, scheduling concerns, and production status to supervisors Assist with equipment operation, setup, and basic troubleshooting as needed Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and improve finish quality Participate in performance feedback, attendance tracking, and team accountability Perform other duties as assigned Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and team-building skills Ability to motivate and coach team members in a production environment Working knowledge of cabinet finishing processes, materials, stains, paints, and coatings Ability to recognize finish defects and quality issues Strong attention to detail and consistency Ability to read work orders, finish schedules, and basic specifications Effective communication and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Dependable, accountable, and safety-focused Job Qualifications and Education High school diploma or GED required Previous experience in cabinet finishing or woodworking manufacturing required Prior lead, team leader, or supervisory experience preferred Experience with staining, painting, spraying, and finishing equipment strongly preferred Basic computer or production-tracking skills a plus Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach, and move through production area for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50-75lbs occasionally Repetitive hand, arm, and wrist movements Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, finishing chemicals and typical manufacturing conditions Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including the use of respirators as required To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
