Finishing Supervisor Position Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Supervisor to lead daily operations in the finishing departments of our 56,600 sq. ft. custom sheet metal fabrication shop. This role is responsible for supervising a team of approximately 15-20 employees across various departments, including paint preparation, painting/powder coating, and assembly. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a background in metal fabrication as well as the process of preparing, painting, and coating metal parts. They should also be capable of managing production schedules, ensuring quality, and promoting a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

 Supervise day-to-day operations, including coordinating workflows across multiple departments and shifts.  Monitor production schedules, adjust staffing and equipment usage as needed to meet deadlines and customer expectations.  Ensure all finishing processes are executed according to specifications and quality standards.  Maintain safety standards and promote a culture of safety among employees; ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety protocols.  Train, coach, and mentor team members, including evaluating performance and addressing disciplinary issues as needed.  Collaborate with design, quality control/inspection, estimating, and management to resolve issues and streamline operations.  Monitor and manage raw material usage, inventory levels, and production documentation.  Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.  Ensure machinery and equipment are properly maintained and coordinate with maintenance for repairs and upgrades.  Work closely and coordinate with Fabrication Supervisor/General Foreman to ensure jobs flow smoothly in and out of the Finishing work stations, troubleshoot process issues, and provide input on scheduling considerations.  Communicate effectively with upper management regarding production status, challenges, and resource needs.  Provide job status updates to customers as necessary.

Qualifications:

 High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in manufacturing or engineering preferred.  Minimum of 5 years of experience in a sheet metal fabrication environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.  Strong understanding of paint and powder coat processes, as well as fabrication processes.  Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a diverse team.  Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.  Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications.  Good verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

 Primarily based on the shop floor within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.  Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.  Position will require the use of personal protective equipment of various types when appropriate. #LP123

Pay:

$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
