Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Flexographic Press Operator is responsible for the setting up, operating and maintaining flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality pressure-sensitive and specialty labels. This role ensures accurate print quality, efficient production, and strict adherence to customer specifications. The Press Operator works closely with Press Assistants and other production team members to meet production targets while minimizing waste, downtime and safety risks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow all safety procedures, company policies and regulatory requirements. Set up and operate flexographic presses in accordance with job specifications and production schedules. Review job tickets, artwork and customer requirements to ensure accurate execution. Verify printing plates are correctly mounted to ensure proper registration and impression. Ensure all required equipment required is properly installed and functioning. Monitor press performance and make adjustments to maintain proper print quality, color consistency and registration. Inspect printed materials to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications. Troubleshoot and/or escalate press issues, including print defects, mechanical problems and material inconsistencies. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal press performance. Minimize waste and downtime through efficient operation and quick changeovers. Accurately record data, waste and quality checks. Train and mentor Assistants and Trainees to support skill development and knowledge growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years of experience operating flexographic printing presses. Experience with UV, water-based or solvent ink systems. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as needed.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Basic math and measurement skills. In-depth knowledge of flexographic printing processes, equipment and materials. Understanding of color matching, ink systems, anilox rolls and plate mounting techniques. Ability to read and interpret job tickets and technical documentation. Strong mechanical aptitude solid troubleshooting skills. High attention to detail with a focus on quality and consistency. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
