Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Dry-Offset Printing Specialist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain specialized dry-offset printing presses to apply high-quality, multi-color designs directly onto three-dimensional plastic products (such as cups, containers, and lids). The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, an eye for color accuracy, and experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
Core Responsibilities Press Setup & Operation:
Interpret job orders to configure waterless dry-offset printing presses. Mount printing plates, blanket cylinders, and set up feeding and stacking mechanisms.
Ink Management:
Mix and match inks to meet precise color specifications (PMS). Monitor and adjust ink viscosity and flow during production runs.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular visual inspections and automated checks for design registration, color consistency, and print clarity. Perform adhesion tests (e.g., tape or cross-hatch tests) to ensure proper curing.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Perform routine preventative maintenance on presses, rollers, and UV curing systems. Troubleshoot mechanical alignment and print quality issues to minimize downtime.
Documentation & Safety:
Record production data, scrap rates, and ink usage. Maintain a clean, safe workstation and strictly follow OSHA and company safety protocols regarding chemical and machinery use.
Machine Setup & Operation:
Calibrating dry-offset (waterless) printing presses, mounting printing plates, pouring specialized inks, and adjusting pressure settings for specific plastic substrates.
Equipment Maintenance:
Troubleshooting mechanical issues, cleaning presses, changing out worn rollers, and performing routine preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
2+ years of experience operating dry-offset, flexographic, or traditional offset printing presses (experience with plastic substrates or rigid packaging mandatory).
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of color theory, ink blending, and UV curing systems. Ability to use precision measuring tools and hand tools for machinery adjustments.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and maintain excellent color vision to detect minor print defects.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; technical certifications in printing technology are a plus. Bilingual English and Spanish Mandatory.
Pay:
$19.00 - $23.00 per hour
