Job Description

Set-up Lead / Foreman - Machine Shop Mentor, Ohio 2nd shift $25-29/hour Top Priority Reduce machine set-up time and maximize machine uptime. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Supervisor & Set-Up Lead to oversee machine shop operations, lead set-ups, and ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead and complete machine set-ups quickly and efficiently Take ownership of any set-up exceeding 48 hours Direct daily machine shop operations, staffing, and material flow Troubleshoot machine issues to minimize downtime Monitor cycle times and implement improvements Perform visual part inspections at each work center (2x per shift) Review operator performance and production stats Train machine operators and perform hourly checks Ensure machines receive daily, weekly, and monthly PMs Coordinate repairs with maintenance (tools, pumps, motors, heads) Participate in daily shift handoff meetings Step in to run machines when operators are unavailable Leadership & Accountability Ensure safety, quality, and performance standards are met Move operators to priority machines as needed Evaluate operator capabilities using structured evaluation tools Team performance directly impacts role evaluation Qualifications Previous supervision experience required Strong machining background and shop fundamentals Excellent organization, communication, and documentation skills Proven ability to work cross-functionally Strong computer skills (Excel required; AutoCAD/Inventor, SQL, Access, Visio a plus) Touch-typing speed of 40 WPM or higher Education High School Diploma or GED required Technical bachelor's degree preferred
