Monitors for defective materials and maintains a clean work area. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor. Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Performs typical press operations to support the assembly floor Detects and reports defective materials, miss hits, and questionable conditions to the department supervisor Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations Tests restraints and other safety equipment Wear all PPE Develop the ability to operate a variety of press machines Monitor own work to ensure quality Perform job with minimal scrap or rework Possess a "mind-set" that commitment of excellence and plant safety are the most important goals Work performed in a plant environment Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, noise and sharp material Employee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, company handbook, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feels objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk, hear, taste and smell. Safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, plant approved gloves, long pants, short or long-sleeved shirts required. No tank tops or sleeveless shirts Must be able to lift and/or move more than 10 to 25 pounds. Pushing and pulling, Bending and twisting at the waist, bending at the elbow, lifting from the floor, Turning of the head Under no circumstances is anyone allowed to operate the press machine without knowledge and understanding of the duties and responsibilities required for the safe operation of this machine.
