POSITION SUMMARY
The Machine Finishing Assistant supports post-press operations by assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of bindery and finishing equipment used in folder production. This role works closely with machine operators to ensure jobs are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with quality and production standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with make-ready, setup, and operation of bindery and finishing equipment to meet production goals
  • Review job tickets to understand quantities, stock specifications, and special instructions
  • Support machine operators in making adjustments to maintain quality standards
  • Monitor product quality and report any defects or inconsistencies
  • Ensure adherence to company safety, quality, and production standards at all times
  • Help perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting of equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Assist with material handling, including loading and unloading stock as needed
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to meet deadlines
REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated commitment to safety and ability to follow company safety policies and procedures Ability to learn new equipment, processes, and procedures quickly and apply knowledge effectively Self-motivated with strong attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and frequent interruptions Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Strong math and measurement skills Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision Previous experience in a printing or manufacturing environment is helpful but not required; training will be provided
