Job Overview The cold-set web press operator is responsible for quality and efficiency of multi-page newsprint signatures in a variety of formats. Duties include either doing or overseeing the following: hanging plates, filling ink fountains, setting ink densities, preparing folders and splicers and operating the press while adhering to safety standards. The lead operator oversees other team members, assigns responsibilities and communicates proactively. Individual operates a 6-tower Heidelberg-Harris single-round press with two folders, infeeds, splicers, remote inking and remote registration. Responsibilities Set up, execute and monitor all steps for press operation Implement quality control measures by inspecting printed materials for color consistency, registration accuracy, and defect detection Manage material handling tasks using forklifts and other equipment when necessary to load raw materials or remove finished products safely Maintain production logs, shift reports, and quality documentation for accountability and continuous improvement Follow all safety procedures Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on printing equipment to minimize downtime and maintain consistent quality Experience Minimum of two years experience operating newspaper web presses in a print production environment Strong knowledge of printing techniques and color management Hands-on experience with quality control procedures specific to print materials Ability to operate machinery safely in a busy manufacturing setting, including forklift certification if applicable Basic machining skills are a plus for equipment maintenance and minor repairs Join us as a Web Press Operator and be part of a vibrant team dedicated to producing exceptional printed products.
