Job Description

•Previous Flexographic Press Operating Experience is Required•As a member of the Press Team, is responsible for the efficient daily operations of the Printing Press. Essential Functions (Core duties/tasks that are fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job) Perform setups and run all required production according to specifications. Performs daily safety inspections of the press and ensures that the press and press area is free of safety hazards. Acts as mentor and trainer to Press Assistants and new operators Conducts quality and quantity audits of products being printed to ensure products meet standards. Performs all necessary administrative work associated with the various print runs. Cleans, maintains and troubleshoots the printing press and ancillary equipment. Responsible for ensuring the press area is kept clean, orderly and operational. Consults with appropriate supervisory people regarding operational issues. Depending on the print run, Operator is responsible for pushing and turning raw stock materials and finished rolls weighing in excess of 1000 pounds. Wrap and change rolls on the press. Carries, lifts and pours 40 to 50 pound ink buckets into the press ink trays as often as necessary and conduct appropriate clean-up. Setup and change press gears as needed. Perform webbing of the stock materials on the press. Lift and change shafts on the press as necessary. Climb ladders to access and wash the press drum area. Assists other operators as needed. Uses "best practices" regarding setup time and minimizing waste. Must work in a safe and ethical manner at all times. Understand and comply with all lockout/tag out procedures. Enter production data on Hourly production report, utilize Global Shop to scan people and materials into WO.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Blends or adjusts inks as needed. Ensures that waste ink and oil is disposed of according standards. Assist in the development of new products and designs. Meets with customers as needed. Must be willing to work in other areas of production as needed. A minimum of a HS diploma or GED is strongly preferred. Must be able to pass a color blindness test. Possess exceptional mechanical and communication skills. Work with minimal supervision. Ability to consistently follow detailed instructions. Must be physically fit due to nature of the work. Ability to work with and understand computers. Strong math skills. To conform to U.S. Government aerospace and defense technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
