Job Title:
Assembly Line Worker Job Description The Assembly Line Worker assembles mechanical and electrical components and subassemblies by following detailed assembly instructions, blueprints, and parts lists. You use hand and power tools to position, fit, and fasten parts to meet precise specifications, verify measurements, and help resolve assembly issues. Responsibilities Use assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, parts lists, tools, and materials to build components and subassemblies accurately. Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements to ensure correct alignment and fit. Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit and securely fastening parts and subassemblies using appropriate hand and power tools. Verify specifications by measuring completed components and confirming they meet required dimensions and quality standards. Identify and resolve assembly problems by adjusting or altering dimensions within defined guidelines to meet specifications. Notify a supervisor or appropriate contact when additional resources, support, or approvals are needed to resolve assembly issues. Maintain consistent productivity and quality by contributing to daily and weekly production goals. Cross-train in all areas of assembly to build versatility and support multiple product lines or processes. Assist and support other departments as needed to ensure smooth production flow and timely completion of orders. Follow safety procedures and proper tool-handling practices to maintain a safe and efficient work area. Stand for extended periods and safely lift and move items up to 50 pounds during assembly tasks. Keep the work area organized, clean, and free of hazards to support a clean manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how parts and assemblies fit and function together. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in a production or assembly environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions. Experience using tape measures and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure correct fit. Capability to perform mechanical assembly tasks, including positioning, fastening, and inspecting components. Basic understanding of electrical assembly, wiring, and interpreting electrical schematics for assembling electrical components. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently. Strong attention to detail and quality, with the ability to verify specifications and identify defects or discrepancies. Physical ability to stand constantly and lift up to 50 pounds safely throughout the shift. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to contribute to group goals and support coworkers as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a production, manufacturing, construction, or related mechanical environment. Familiarity with both mechanical and electrical assembly processes. Comfort working with hand and power tools in a fast-paced setting. Willingness to cross-train in multiple areas of assembly and support other departments. Problem-solving skills to help troubleshoot and adjust assemblies to meet specifications. Work Environment You work in a very clean facility with a focus on safety, organization, and efficiency. This is a 2nd shift position, typically scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. You spend most of your shift standing at the assembly line, using hand and power tools, tape measures, and other standard production equipment. The environment emphasizes cleanliness and orderliness, with clear workstations and well-maintained tools to support consistent, high-quality production. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
