As a Prep & Finish Technician , you'll have the responsibility of fitting and assembling machined metal parts, verifying dimensions of products and manually aligning components for assembly. What you'll do : Read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates, layouts, and routers to determine tooling instructions, tolerances, dimensions, and required work for each part. Translate technical instructions into precise actions to fit, assemble, and install machined metal parts and complex sub-assemblies using hand and power tools. Manually align and secure components using bolts, screws, dowels, rivets, and other approved fastening methods to ensure proper assembly and fit. Verify product dimensions and inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments and applicable test equipment, including pressure testing. Support production requirements by cross-training in complementary skills, obtaining required skill endorsements, and moving between assignments as needed. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-training efforts to improve cell processes, production capabilities, and technician skill levels. Maintain a safe work environment by following all applicable safety requirements, identifying and immediately reporting unsafe practices or conditions. Other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications Ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs unassisted. Ability to sit or stand for at least 50% of shift. Ability in reading, understanding, and writing in English. Desired Skills Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints. Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, rework process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals, and MSDS labels. Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems. Specialized training in machine shop practices.
