Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (8-Hour Day Shift) About Us We are a well-established steel company in San Diego with a long-standing reputation for quality and innovation. By integrating modern technology into our shop processes, we maintain high efficiency and precision on structural steel projects. We are seeking a skilled, long-term Structural Steel Fabricator to join our production team. About the Role This is a mid-level fabrication position focused on the layout, fitting, and assembly of structural steel components, heavy steel frame assemblies, baseplates, and structural connections. You will take projects directly from shop drawings through layout and fit-up, operating essential shop machinery to prep material accurately for structural welding while maintaining a steady, efficient shop workflow. Key Responsibilities Read, accurately interpret, and work directly from structural shop drawings, detail sheets, blueprints, and project specifications. Perform layout, fitting, tacking, and assembly of structural steel beams, columns, frames, moment connections, and baseplates. Operate fabrication machinery—including band saws, cold saws, ironworkers, hydraulic benders, and standard shop tools—to cut, notch, bevel, and shape material to specification. Prep joints and ensure fit-ups meet tight tolerances and shop quality standards prior to final welding. Coordinate with shop welders and team members to ensure efficient production flow and maintain a safe, clean work environment.Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on structural steel fabrication and layout experience (required).Equipment & Technical Proficiency:
Proven hands-on experience operating shop saws, ironworkers, hydraulic benders, grinders, and material handling equipment.Technical Skills:
Advanced blueprint reading, shop math, layout proficiency, and strong understanding of structural steel fit-up tolerances.Attributes:
High efficiency, precision-minded, team-player attitude, and reliable transportation.Language:
English proficiency required; Spanish language skills are a strong plus.Certifications:
Forklift/crane experience or welding certifications are pluses (onsite training provided as needed).Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Note:
