Fabrication Technician

Full-time, Permanent Position Overview:

Layfield is looking for a Plant Fabrication Technician who will primarily be responsible for the operation of fabrication machines, such as hot air hand tools, the extrusion welding rod machine, sewing machine, silt fence and other machines as required. The Plant Fabrication Technician will also be responsible for quality assurance, proper use of equipment and efficient use of time and material. This position will report to the Production Manager. The position will be based out of our Lakeside, CA office.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate various machines such as hot air hand tools, the extrusion welding rod machine, sewing machine, silt fence machine and other machines as required. Ensure that the final product meets the production specifications Maximize quality, production level and efficiency pertaining to fabrication activities Follow all Quality Assurance and Production operating procedures Record all necessary information for production and quality records Understand, support, and adhere to the company's health and safety policies, programs and procedures by communicating and promoting health and safety awareness to team members. Report any equipment or building damage & encourages team members to do so as well. Complete additional tasks as required from the regular production schedule Able to work first and second shift hours

Required Skills & Knowledge:

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis, along with bending and standing for periods of time Experience with basic hand tools Safety Oriented Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment Contributes as a "Team Player" Ability to prioritize tasks and projects Capable of solving problems Conducts one's self in a professional manner that reflects integrity and respect Demonstrated ability to follow safety regulations and work safely

Education & Experience:

Successful completion of a High School Diploma (1-2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment Minimum 2 years experience in the fabrication of geosynthetic and industrial fabric materials preferred What does Layfield have to offer?
