Winder - Heavy‑Duty, High‑Voltage, High‑Energy‑Density Capacitors Job Summary The Winder is responsible for the precise winding of dielectric films, electrode foils, and insulation layers used in the construction of high‑voltage, high‑energy‑density capacitors. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to operate specialized winding equipment to produce capacitor elements that meet strict electrical and dimensional specifications. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate winding machines (manual, semi‑automatic, or fully automated) to produce capacitor rolls with exact layer alignment, tension, and winding patterns. Load dielectric films, metallized films, and foil electrodes onto winding equipment, ensuring correct orientation, cleanliness, and material integrity. Monitor winding parameters such as tension, speed, layer count, and edge alignment to ensure consistent product quality. Perform in‑process inspections including: Roll diameter and width Layer uniformity Edge straightness Absence of wrinkles, tears, or contamination Apply lead terminations or tabs during the winding process when required by design. Document production data including material usage, machine settings, and inspection results. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot winding defects or process deviations. Maintain winding equipment through routine cleaning, minor adjustments, and reporting mechanical issues. Follow strict ESD, clean‑handling, and high‑voltage safety protocols to protect sensitive dielectric materials and ensure product reliability. Support downstream processes such as compression, stabilization, impregnation, and assembly as needed. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience operating precision winding equipment or similar machinery (coils, transformers, motors, film winding, or capacitor winding). Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and winding specifications. Strong manual dexterity and comfort working with thin films, foils, adhesives, and delicate materials. Understanding of basic electrical concepts (capacitance, insulation, polarity). High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and repeatability. Ability to work in a clean, controlled manufacturing environment. Basic computer skills for recording production data. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience winding high‑voltage or high‑energy‑density capacitors, pulse‑power components, or similar energy‑storage devices. Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or MIL‑STD manufacturing environments. Experience with tension‑controlled winding systems, servo‑driven winders, or programmable winding machines. Knowledge of dielectric materials such as polypropylene, polyester, polycarbonate, or metallized films. Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement processes. Physical & Environmental Requirements Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods. Work in cleanroom or controlled‑environment conditions as required. Use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, and ESD protection. Exposure to films, foils, adhesives, and high‑voltage test equipment (with proper training). Why CSI Manufacturing.
