Job Title:
Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling electronic products and subassemblies according to engineering specifications and drawings. You will use soldering equipment, hand tools, and basic manufacturing instruments to build high-quality assemblies while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area. Responsibilities Assemble products and electronic subassemblies in accordance with engineering specifications, drawings, and work instructions. Use soldering irons, solder pots, and hand tools to perform assembly and soldering tasks. Perform wire stripping and crimping, as well as sub-assembly and final assembly of electronic components and units. Position and align parts in specified relationships using fixtures or other holding devices to ensure accurate assembly. Install finished assemblies or subassemblies into cases, housings, cans, or other enclosures. Join and secure parts using methods such as crimping, screwing, bolting, riveting, welding, soldering, press fitting, or similar operations. Mix epoxy and other chemicals as required for the assembly process, following safety and handling guidelines. Use basic manufacturing equipment, tools, and gauges such as multimeters, torque gauges, and force gauges to verify assembly quality. Maintain a neat, safe, and organized work area in compliance with workplace safety and housekeeping standards. Follow written and verbal instructions accurately to meet quality, safety, and production requirements. Perform basic math, such as addition and subtraction, to interpret dimensions and measurements during assembly tasks. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to support production goals. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment or completion of a relevant technical certificate program. High school diploma or equivalent. Hands-on soldering experience in an assembly environment. Proficiency in using common hand tools for assembly work. Ability to follow directions accurately, both written and verbal. Ability to perform simple math, including basic addition and subtraction, for interpreting dimensions and measurements. Experience using basic manufacturing equipment, tools, and gauges such as multimeters, torque gauges, and force gauges. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently. High level of motivation and drive to meet quality and productivity standards. Clear verbal and written communication skills. Eligibility to obtain any required export authorization, if applicable to the role. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as an assembler in defense manufacturing or aerospace environments. Technical certificate related to manufacturing, electronics, or a similar field. Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Comfort working with epoxies and other chemicals in a controlled environment. Attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset in all assembly tasks. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing and assembly environment focused on electronic products. You will work with soldering irons, solder pots, hand tools, fixtures, multimeters, torque and force gauges, and other basic manufacturing equipment. The role involves handling small parts, mixing epoxies and other chemicals, and working at a workstation or bench for extended periods. The work area is expected to remain neat, safe, and well organized, with adherence to all safety and handling procedures. Standard production hours typically apply, with work performed on-site in a structured shop or factory setting where appropriate protective equipment and attire are used as required by the tasks and processes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wallingford, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
