Job Description
Job Summary The Assembler in the Mats Department is responsible for producing high-quality mat products by assembling components, operating equipment, and ensuring all products meet company quality and safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Assemblers play a key role in transforming raw materials into finished products by following detailed work instructions, using hand tools and machinery, and performing quality checks throughout the production process. Key Responsibilities Assemble mat products and components according to specifications and work instructions Operate hand tools, power tools, and production equipment safely and efficiently Inspect materials and finished products to ensure quality standards are met Measure, cut, align, and position materials for proper assembly Maintain accurate production records and report defects or inconsistencies Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area Meet daily production goals and deadlines Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve workflow and efficiency Perform basic equipment maintenance and report mechanical issues Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparation of finished mats for shipment (These responsibilities reflect common assembler duties such as assembling parts, inspecting quality, maintaining workspaces, and meeting production targets. Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required Previous manufacturing or assembly experience preferred but not required Experience in mat production, textiles, or similar industries is a plus (Most assembler roles require a high school diploma and provide on-the-job training. ) Skills & Abilities Ability to read and follow work instructions, diagrams, or basic blueprints Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication and problem-solving skills (Assemblers typically need mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret instructions. ) Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks Ability to lift, push, or pull materials (up to 50 lbs as needed) Able to bend, stoop, and move throughout the production area Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks are standard for assembler roles. ) Work Environment Manufacturing/production floor (Mats Department) Exposure to machinery, moving parts, and production noise Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Team-oriented environment focused on safety, quality, and efficiency Preferred Qualifications (Optional) Prior experience in mat, flooring, or textile manufacturing Familiarity with quality control processes Basic math and measurement skills Experience with production tracking systems
