Problem-solving Full Job Description Job Objective:
The objective for the Welder is to perform quality welds on precision parts and assemblies, and verify that parts are compliant to customers' requirements. CMC Expectations of a
Successful Welder:
Welds spare parts in various directions: flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead, etc. Ignite flame or strike an arc while welding or performing other electricity-related work to weld part of a metal structure. Identify any fault in operating the equipment or in relation to any material or equipment, and then notify Production Supervisor and/or Project Management. Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, bolt, or grind parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final quality and precision product. Operate other equipment and perform tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other types of welding arcs. Able to control the processes of fitting, burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheat, distortion, expansion or shrink of parts. Inspect finish products and parts by comparing them with drawings/blueprints and/or samples to verify that customers' specifications are met. Document inspections by completing production work order. Prepare and set up necessary tools and equipment for welding job such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipment. Verify and arrange the parts and/or welded parts to be assembled before starting the assembly process. Document and notify Quality of any discrepancies and/or nonconformances. Accurately document work on the production work order, and note any changes and/or recommendations that are needed for future runs. Consistently and accurately clock in and out, record total quantity, and scrap of production work orders using the MieTrak kiosk. Complete Welding Kanban as assigned. Follow and support CMC safety requirements, such as wearing the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ready to work from the start of the shift until the end. Follow all company policies, for example, Quality, Safety, and Employee Manuals.
Skills of CMC Welder:
Math Skills :
Good math skills will help welders understand complex instructions, how plans work and make sure items are designed and built correctly.
Problem Solving Skills :
Welders will need to know why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors. Attention to
Detail :
Welders will work with flammable materials. Being observant and safe is critical to the overall well-being of the employee and his/her co-workers. In addition, welders must take great care in their welds as it reflects not only visually but in the quality of the work.
Stamina :
Welders often work long hours doing repetitive movements.
Analytical Skills :
Welders will need to read and understand blueprints, drawings, models and other specifications.
Preferred:
3-4 years of work experience as a Welder, or 1-2 years of work experience as a Welder in addition to a Welder Technical Certification. Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance, and stand for long periods of time.
