Assembler Job Description This role assembles premium windows and doors from start to finish, ensuring each product meets high quality standards. You will work from production lists and written instructions, select and prepare materials, and use a variety of hand and power tools to complete the assembly process safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Perform window and door assembly from start to finish, following standard work practices and control plans. Read and follow production lists and written work instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately and on time. Identify and select the correct materials required for each product and assembly step. Inspect each phase of the assembly process to ensure quality standards are met and products meet specifications. Advise team members and leadership of material shortages, defects, or quality issues as they arise. Use drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, sanders, and other hand and power tools as part of the assembly process. Measure components accurately using a tape measure to ensure proper fit and alignment. Handle and move materials and finished products, including lifting items weighing 50 pounds or more. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating tools and equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and safe operations. Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and support continuous improvement efforts. Essential Skills High school diploma, GED, or HSED. Basic reading skills to interpret production lists, work instructions, and safety information. Basic math skills to perform measurements and simple calculations. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. Ability to use drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, sanders, and other hand and power tools safely and effectively. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. Comfort working in a production, assembly, or general labor environment. Ability to follow standard work, control plans, and written work instructions consistently. Ability to work with mechanical assemblies and basic construction-style tasks. Ability to work scheduled shifts and occasional additional hours as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in assembly, production, or general labor environments. Experience in construction, mechanical assembly, or related hands-on work. Familiarity with power tools and hand tools such as drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, sanders, and tape measures. Experience reading or working from blueprints or similar diagrams. Comfort working with premium building products such as windows and doors. Strong attention to detail and quality in a fast-paced production setting. Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and equipment to support career growth. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a production and assembly environment focused on manufacturing premium e-series windows that are sold directly to dealers and homeowners.
The facility operates multiple shifts:
a first shift from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a second shift from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday. The operation may run additional hours on Fridays for a half day or full day, with schedules communicated early in the week. Team members receive two twelve-minute breaks and one thirty-minute lunch break during the shift. You will regularly use hand and power tools such as drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, sanders, and tape measures in a busy manufacturing setting. The facility is not air conditioned, so it can become hot, and the dress code reflects this with flexible attire such as shorts and t-shirts, as long as clothing remains appropriate. Steel-toed shoes are required for safety. Individuals with long hair must secure it in a ponytail or bun to maintain a safe working environment. You will work alongside a large workforce in a high-volume, hands-on production setting that emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dubuque, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.20 - $22.20/hr.
