Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling from start to finish using a variety of hand and power tools while consistently maintaining high quality standards. You will follow detailed production lists and work instructions, identify and use proper materials, and support your team by communicating any shortages or quality concerns. Responsibilities Assemble products from start to finish, following standard work, control plans, and written work instructions. Read and follow production lists to ensure accurate and timely completion of assembly tasks. Identify and select proper materials needed for each product and stage of the assembly process. Inspect each phase of the assembly process to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications. Advise team members and supervisors of material shortages, defects, or quality issues as they arise. Use drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, sanders, and other hand and power tools safely and effectively. Measure components accurately using a tape measure to ensure proper fit and alignment. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating tools and equipment in the production area. Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient work area by following housekeeping and 5S practices. Collaborate with team members and support continuous improvement efforts in production and quality. Essential Skills High school diploma, GED, or HSED. Basic reading skills to understand production lists, work instructions, and safety guidelines. Basic math skills to perform measurements and simple calculations. Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure. Proficiency in using drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, sanders, and other hand and power tools. Ability to perform general labor and production tasks in a manufacturing environment. Capability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis. Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard work processes. Strong attention to detail with a focus on product quality. Comfort working in a physically demanding, fast-paced production setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in assembly, production, or general labor roles. Background in construction, mechanical assembly, or related hands-on trades. Familiarity with blueprints or basic construction drawings. Experience using a variety of hand tools and power tools in a work setting. Comfort working with tape measures and performing precise measurements. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic assembly issues. Willingness to learn new processes and adapt to changing production needs. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers. Work Environment This is a full-time production role in a manufacturing facility that operates multiple shifts. The first shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the second shift runs from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with occasional half-day or full-day work on Fridays, communicated early in the week. Team members receive two twelve-minute breaks and one thirty-minute lunch break during the shift. The facility produces premium "e-series" windows that are sold directly to dealers and homeowners, and employs approximately 600 people. The environment is not air conditioned, so it can become warm, and the dress code reflects this: steel-toed shoes are required, while shorts and t-shirts are allowed as long as clothing remains appropriate and free of offensive content. Individuals with long hair must wear it secured in a ponytail or bun for safety. You will regularly use hand and power tools such as drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, sanders, and other equipment as part of the assembly process in an active, hands-on production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dubuque, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.20 - $22.20/hr.
