Job Description

Job Title:
Assembler Job Description The Assembler works at various production stations to build wiring, sensors, and heater components used in custom heating equipment. You will work primarily with very small parts in a seated position for most of the shift, performing detailed, repetitive tasks that require strong concentration and accuracy. You will rotate duties and cross-train across different assembly areas to diversify your skills while contributing to made-to-order products for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications. Responsibilities Assemble wiring and other components that go into custom heating equipment according to specifications and work instructions. Measure wire accurately and cut it to precise specifications using rulers and other measuring tools. Utilize pre-built kits to assemble products in the correct sequence and configuration. Apply protective coatings around electric terminals to ensure safety and product reliability. Fill casings with cement or other materials as required by the assembly process. Handle and assemble very small parts with consistent accuracy and strong attention to detail. Meet performance and productivity metrics after the initial training period of approximately 1-2 months. Rotate between different workstations and cross-train in multiple assembly areas to support production needs. Thread wire through peg boards to create flexible heaters in the flex/foam area. Apply terminals onto materials and add additional layers to cover heaters as part of the build process. Place assembled components in ovens for curing and complete the curing process according to guidelines. Test sensors and heaters to verify proper functionality and quality standards. Follow quality inspection procedures to ensure all products meet required specifications. Use hand tools such as drills, pliers, and wrenches safely and effectively during assembly tasks. Read and interpret basic shop drawings or prints when needed to complete work accurately. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and production procedures. Support varying order sizes ranging from very small to high-volume production runs, depending on customer demand. Essential Skills Proven attendance and dependability, verified through references or similar checks. Ability to read scales and rulers and use them accurately on a daily basis. Experience using hand tools such as drills, split pliers, and open-ended wrenches. Basic math skills to support measuring, cutting, and assembly tasks. Ability to clearly explain and walk through previous assembly experience and processes. Strong attention to detail and comfort working with very small parts in repetitive tasks. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to performance expectations after training. Comfort working in a seated position for most of the shift while maintaining focus and accuracy. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with brazing and soldering is a plus. Prior experience in assembly, especially in a manufacturing environment, is beneficial. Experience with quality inspection or quality-focused work is helpful. Familiarity with reading and interpreting shop drawings or prints is an advantage. Comfort using basic hand and power tools, including drills, pliers, and wrenches. Interest in learning new manufacturing skills such as CNC, welding, or engineering through on-the-job development and tuition support. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place in a clean, organized manufacturing facility with multiple buildings and departments dedicated to producing custom heating equipment and components. One building offers a very clean environment near a clean room, while another has a more traditional industrial feel, and all production is completed on site. Assemblers primarily work at stations in a seated position, handling very small parts and using tools such as rulers, drills, pliers, wrenches, and other basic equipment. The role follows a first-shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime most commonly available before the shift and occasionally after, offered on a voluntary basis. Safety is a priority, with reimbursement for safety shoes and safety glasses available once hired permanently, and employees work within established safety and quality procedures to ensure a comfortable and well-managed production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cary, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.51 - $17.51/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
