Assembly Associate Job Description This role focuses on assembling bus fare units and related sub-assemblies while maintaining high quality standards, accurate documentation, and efficient packaging and shipping preparation. You will work in a clean, quiet, temperature-controlled assembly environment and contribute to a smooth production flow with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Assemble bus fare units accurately according to work orders and job tickets. Confirm that all materials, sizes, and parts match the specifications listed on work orders and job tickets. Inspect all parts and surfaces to ensure they are free from defects before and after assembly. Self-monitor the quality of your work and promptly report unusual, defective, or operating difficulties to a lead or supervisor. Complete all tasks within established quality guidelines and company standards. Accurately document work performed using required company forms, documents, and procedures. Perform sub-assembly work as instructed in work orders, ensuring correct sequencing and component placement. Pack and crate completed orders in accordance with shipping instructions to prevent damage and ensure accurate shipment. Use equipment such as forklifts and RF scanners as needed to support assembly, picking, and shipping activities. Handle general labor tasks, including lifting materials weighing 50-80 lbs, to support production and packaging operations. Follow safety, housekeeping, and operational procedures to maintain a clean and organized work area. Complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision while meeting productivity and quality expectations. Essential Skills Experience in assembly, general production, or packaging line work. Ability to perform assembly and packaging tasks accurately and efficiently. Capability to lift and move materials weighing 50-80 lbs on a regular basis. Experience operating a forklift or willingness to learn forklift operation in a production environment. General labor experience in a warehouse, production, or assembly setting. Experience using RF scanners for picking, tracking, or inventory processes. Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with leads, supervisors, and team members. Computer literacy and the ability to learn new computer programs and systems. Experience with warehouse picking and computer-based inventory or order systems. Ability to self-monitor work quality and follow detailed work instructions and job tickets. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience assembling mechanical or electro-mechanical components. Experience in a quiet, clean, or temperature-controlled assembly environment. Experience documenting work using standardized company forms and procedures. Familiarity with shipping, packing, and crating processes based on written instructions. Comfort working with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality. Tenure in similar roles ranging from early career (1-2 years) to long-term experience. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
