Production Assembler Job Description The Production Assembler works as part of a collaborative production team to inspect and assemble optical components, prepare them for shipment or inventory, and ensure all products meet quality and quantity requirements. This role involves working with small parts, using basic hand tools and light manufacturing equipment, and following detailed work instructions in a clean, organized, and safety-focused environment. Responsibilities Assemble optical components and related parts according to work instructions and production standards. Prepare assembled parts for shipping or inventory by placing them into appropriate packaging and labeling as required. Perform quality checks on in-process and completed parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards. Verify part quantities for accuracy against sales orders and documentation before packaging or inventorying. Operate and maintain light manufacturing equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Use basic hand tools and measuring tools, including tape measures, to complete assembly and inspection tasks accurately. Read and follow written work instructions, diagrams, or simple blueprints to complete assembly and inspection processes. Follow established safety protocols and company procedures at all times. Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to support efficient production and safety. Collaborate with team members and communicate issues or defects promptly to ensure continuous product quality. Essential Skills Experience with assembly work, particularly involving small parts. Ability to perform small part inspection with attention to detail and quality. Proficiency using basic hand tools safely and effectively. Ability to read and follow work instructions accurately. Ability to use a tape measure correctly for measurement and verification tasks. Experience working with glass or similar delicate products. Capability to operate and care for light manufacturing equipment. Strong focus on safety, organization, and cleanliness in the work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience reading simple blueprints or diagrams for assembly is beneficial. Prior experience in a production or manufacturing environment is an advantage. Comfort working with temperature-controlled equipment and environments. Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for working with small components. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. Employees receive annual performance reviews that may result in pay increases, reflecting a focus on recognition and continuous improvement. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Palatine, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
