Job Title:
Mechanical Assembler - Firefighting Equipment Job Description This role focuses on assembling and testing mechanical monitors used in the firefighting industry. You will read blueprints, use hand and power tools, perform precise measurements, and ensure each unit meets quality standards before it moves to the finished goods area. Responsibilities Assemble firefighting monitors and related components according to blueprints and work instructions. Read and interpret blueprints to understand dimensions, assembly steps, and component placement. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively throughout the shift to assemble mechanical parts. Handle and move monitors that weigh up to 70 pounds during the assembly and packing process. Measure parts and assemblies accurately using a tape measure to ensure correct dimensions. Perform visual inspections on completed parts and assemblies to verify quality and identify defects. Test completed monitors in the water testing room to confirm proper function and performance. Pack finished products securely and move them to the designated finished goods area once builds are complete. Maintain a clean, organized, and tidy work area throughout the shift. Follow safety guidelines and standard operating procedures to support a safe production environment. Essential Skills Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools in a production or mechanical environment. Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 70 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for precise measurements. Ability to read and interpret blueprints for mechanical assembly work. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a general labor, mechanical assembly, or light industrial setting. Consistent and stable work history demonstrating good tenure and reliability. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in mechanical or industrial assembly. Prior experience reading blueprints in a production or manufacturing environment. general labor, mechanical assembly, or light industry. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a first-shift role, Monday through Friday, from 6:55 a.m. to 3:55 p.m. The position is based in a production and light industrial environment focused on assembling firefighting equipment. You will work around hand and power tools, mechanical components, and a dedicated water testing room used to validate finished products. The work involves standing, lifting up to 70 pounds, and moving assembled units throughout the facility. The area is kept clean and organized, and you are expected to maintain a tidy workspace and follow all safety and production procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.82 - $21.63/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
