Job Description
ProFab Inc. is seeking an experienced Skilled Fabricator/Welder to join our team. We are looking for someone with strong fabrication experience who can take a set of drawings, understand what needs to be built, and complete the fabrication process accurately and efficiently. This position is for an experienced fabricator—not someone who only has welding experience. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with layout, fit-up, measuring, cutting, squaring, welding, and completing fabricated assemblies from start to finish. Responsibilities Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols Fabricate assemblies directly from drawings with minimal supervision Accurately measure, layout, cut, fit, and assemble steel components MIG weld carbon steel and structural assemblies Produce square, straight, and dimensionally accurate weldments Properly fit and tack assemblies prior to final welding Understand how welding sequence and heat affect distortion Use grinders, saws, drills, ironworkers, and other common fabrication equipment Verify dimensions throughout the fabrication process Identify problems with drawings, dimensions, or fit-up before they become larger issues Maintain a high standard of workmanship and productivity Keep tools and work areas clean, organized, and safe Work independently while also being able to work effectively with other team members Qualifications Previous experience as a skilled fabricator is required Strong blueprint and fabrication drawing reading skills Strong MIG welding and fit-up abilities Must be proficient with tape measures, squares, levels, calipers, and other measuring tools Must understand fabrication tolerances and dimensional accuracy Ability to fabricate without requiring constant supervision Experience fabricating frames, platforms, structural assemblies, machine bases, weldments, and custom projects is preferred Must be dependable and able to maintain consistent attendance Must take pride in producing quality work Additional Skills We Value Experience with any of the following is a plus: TIG welding Stainless steel fabrication Aluminum fabrication Press brake operation CNC laser-cut components Mechanical assembly Automation frames and machine bases Structural steel fabrication Forklift and overhead crane operation What We're Looking For We are looking for a true fabricator who understands the entire fabrication process—not simply someone who can run a weld bead. A successful candidate should be able to receive a drawing and material, determine the proper sequence for building the assembly, complete the layout and fit-up, weld the assembly, and verify that the finished product meets the drawing requirements. Quality, productivity, dependability, and attention to detail are extremely important for this position. Pay will be based on experience and demonstrated skill level.
