Job Title:
GSE Technician Job Description The GSE Technician works with a wide range of materials, tools, and fabrication technologies to create custom parts and components according to specification. This role supports all aspects of vehicle build, integration, and ground support equipment (GSE) repair and fabrication, including painting and custom fabrication work. The technician collaborates closely with engineers, designers, and other technicians to deliver high-quality, reliable components in a fast-paced prototype manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Oversee and execute fabrication tasks, including cutting, welding, machining, painting, and assembling materials and components. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate production of parts and assemblies. Operate and maintain fabrication machinery and equipment, including CNC machines, welding equipment, saws, manual mills, lathes, and various shop tools, while following safety procedures. Perform custom fabrication work tailored to specific requirements and customer needs. Support the repair and fabrication of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to ensure functionality, reliability, and readiness. Support all aspects of vehicle build, integration, and GSE-related activities as needed. Assist with mechanical assembly, vehicle integration, and composite work when required. Move materials, track parts, and perform light assembly to keep projects on schedule. Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as necessary. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols. Adapt to changing requirements and incomplete documentation in a prototype environment by taking initiative and identifying the next most valuable tasks without waiting for detailed instructions. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment. Proficiency in operating fabrication tools and machinery, including CNC machines, welding equipment, saws, manual mills, lathes, and various shop tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Strong fabrication skills, including cutting, welding, machining, painting, and assembly. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with hand tools and ground support equipment. Ability to move materials, track parts, and perform light assembly work accurately. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and limited existing blueprints. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work proactively without constant direction. Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting vehicle build and integration activities. Experience working with composites in a manufacturing or fabrication setting. Background in custom fabrication work for unique or prototype projects. Familiarity with ground support equipment repair and maintenance. Strong collaboration skills for working with engineers, designers, and other technicians. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based on a manufacturing floor, directly supporting facility operations and prototype builds. The environment is fast paced, with frequent design and process changes and limited existing blueprints, requiring flexibility and adaptability. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch break. You will work with a variety of fabrication equipment, including CNC machines, welding equipment, saws, manual mills, lathes, and common shop tools, in a setting that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middle River, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.
