Production Assembler Job Description The Production Assembler performs repeated assembly tasks on handcrafted products before they are shipped to customers. You will work at a designated station using hand tools, power tools, and other instruments to assemble metal and cast iron components according to work instructions and standard operating procedures. This is a physically active role that requires standing for most of the shift and consistently lifting moderate to heavy materials in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform repeated assembly operations on handcrafted products according to work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to assemble metal and cast iron components safely and efficiently. Work at a designated station and follow lean manufacturing processes to maintain productivity and quality standards. Read and follow work instructions, basic mechanical guidelines, and any provided diagrams or blueprints as required. Inspect parts and assemblies for accuracy, quality, and completeness, ensuring products meet required specifications. Handle and move materials and components, consistently lifting 35-50 lbs throughout the shift. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with manufacturing and safety guidelines. Collaborate with team members and support general production tasks, including machine operation and industrial assembly activities as needed. Adapt to different tasks and positions within the production area as training and business needs require. Report any equipment issues, defects, or process concerns to the appropriate personnel to support continuous improvement. Essential Skills Experience using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing, assembly, or general production environment. Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8-10 hours per shift. Ability to consistently lift and move 35-50 lbs throughout the workday. Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and high-quality assemblies. Willingness to learn and train on new positions and tasks within the production area. Comfort working in a mechanical and industrial setting with metal parts and cast iron components. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, general labor, or industrial production. Knowledge in mechanical assembly or machine operation. Familiarity with lean manufacturing processes. Exposure to reading and working from basic blueprints or mechanical diagrams. Comfort working with general production equipment and industrial tools. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing setting with approximately 50-60 people working on the first shift. You will work with metal parts, cast iron, and other industrial components while standing on your feet for most of the shift. Standard hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The environment involves general production, assembly, and machine operation activities, with a focus on lean manufacturing processes. Appropriate attire includes steel-toed shoes and long pants to meet safety and dress code requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Gorham, ME. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
