Assembler Job Description The Assembler builds high-quality products by following detailed work instructions, technical drawings, and blueprints while supporting production goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on mechanical assembly, basic inspection, and equipment operation, with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and teamwork. Responsibilities Assemble products and components according to detailed work instructions, technical drawings, and blueprints. Inspect parts, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Operate hand tools, power tools, and assembly machinery to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently. Organize and prepare materials for assembly, ensuring all components are available, labeled correctly, and meet specifications before use. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area. Collaborate with team members to meet daily and weekly production goals and deadlines. Assist with quality control inspections and functional testing of assembled products to verify proper performance. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on assembly tools and equipment to keep them in proper working condition. Accurately complete production documentation, including inventory logs, production records, and quality control checklists. Report any issues, defects, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors and participate in troubleshooting and resolution. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting ways to enhance assembly processes, efficiency, and product quality. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency using basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, mallets, gauges, calipers, and drills. Experience operating assembly-related machinery in a production setting. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical drawings. Capability to lift 50 pounds or more safely and repeatedly as part of daily tasks. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and quality inspection. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions consistently and accurately. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment while meeting deadlines. Commitment to following safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience assisting with quality control inspections and basic functional testing. Familiarity with completing production documentation such as inventory logs and quality checklists. Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills for identifying and addressing assembly issues. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate issues clearly to supervisors and coworkers. Willingness to participate in continuous improvement efforts and adapt to process changes. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility with multiple shift options, including 1st shift (7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:15 p.m.-11:45 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m.). The environment is non-temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. Assemblers regularly use hand tools, power tools, and assembly machinery, and they handle materials and components throughout the shift. The position requires standing, moving, and lifting up to or above 50 pounds on a routine basis. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toe footwear and safety glasses, and employees are expected to maintain a neat, safe, and organized work area while adhering to all safety guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brighton, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
