Position Summary The Die Assembler is responsible for assembling and preparing dies according to engineering drawings, specifications, and established company standards. This position ensures assigned dies are fully assembled, complete, accurate, and ready for tryout while identifying and resolving tooling issues before the die reaches tryout. The Die Assembler is accountable for producing zero assembly-caused tryout failures, including incorrect clearances, missing hardware, incomplete builds, or other assembly-related issues. This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate control of die details and hardware and troubleshooting tooling problems to identify and address root causes. Responsibilities Assemble progressive, transfer, and other tooling according to drawings, specifications, and assembly requirements. Complete assigned dies accurately and ensure they are complete, to print, and ready for tryout. Verify clearances, alignment, fit, timing, hardware, components, and overall die function prior to tryout. Maintain accountability for all die details, components, and hardware; ensure nothing is lost, mixed between jobs, or left out of the completed die. Identify and correct assembly issues before the die proceeds to tryout. Troubleshoot tooling problems and determine root causes of issues. Work with Die Makers, Die Designers, and the Tool & Die Foreman to resolve design, machining, or assembly issues. Verify components against drawings, bills of materials, and job requirements. Properly identify and organize components and hardware throughout the assembly process. Make adjustments, modifications, and repairs as necessary to achieve proper die function. Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions, clearances, and component placement. Inspect completed assemblies for quality, accuracy, and completeness. Maintain clean and organized work areas and properly store tooling, components, and hardware. Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE and equipment. Accurately record time and job information in the company's ERP/manufacturing system. Communicate job status, concerns, missing components, and potential delays to the Tool & Die Foreman. Assist with die tryout activities and make adjustments as directed. Support continuous improvement of die assembly processes and standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to assemble complex tooling. Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications. Understanding of die construction, components, clearances, and tooling processes. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and tooling problems and identify root causes. Ability to use precision measuring tools. Ability to identify, organize, and maintain accountability for numerous die components and hardware. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the team. Ability to work effectively under deadlines and changing priorities. Basic computer and ERP/manufacturing system skills preferred. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in Tool & Die, Die Assembly, Machining, or a related manufacturing environment preferred. Experience assembling progressive, transfer, or other stamping dies preferred. Technical or trade school training in Tool & Die or a related field is a plus. Work Environment & Additional Requirements Primarily an on-site position in the Tool & Die department. Regularly works around machinery, tooling, cranes, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment. Must be able to lift, move, and position tooling components as required. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in various positions throughout the workday. Proper PPE and safety procedures are required.
