Light (~25% of the role)•a few days per month, occasional overnights only. Company vehicle + per diem provided. About the Role We're hiring a reliable Assembly & Field Service Technician to build and support our medical patient lifts. Roughly 75% of your time is spent in our Detroit Lakes shop assembling, inspecting, and testing patient lifts and components. The remaining ~25% involves light regional travel (primarily Minnesota, with limited coverage into Wisconsin, northern Iowa, and eastern North & South Dakota) plus phone-based technical support for customers. This is a practical, varied role that combines hands-on assembly work with occasional field service and customer troubleshooting — ideal for someone who likes mechanical/electrical work, takes pride in quality, and wants steady daytime hours with minimal travel. What You'll Do Shop Assembly & Inspection (majority of the role) Assemble patient lifts and related components to quality and safety standards Perform inspections, functional testing, and basic repairs Replace parts and complete final checks before equipment ships or goes into service Keep a clean, organized work area and follow safety procedures Field Service & Customer Support (light travel + phone) Perform on-site inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on patient lifts Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues Provide clear phone-based technical support and troubleshooting to customers Document service work accurately Represent the company professionally with care facilities and end users Travel is limited to a few days most months, uses a company vehicle, includes per diem, and does not involve weekends. What We're Looking For Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand/power tools Basic electrical troubleshooting experience (DC systems a plus) Ability to follow assembly instructions and work procedures Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required) Ability to lift 50-75+ lbs and work on your feet Clear communication skills for both shop and customer interactions Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused High school diploma or equivalent; related technical experience preferred but not required We will train the right person on our specific patient-lift systems and processes.
