Truss Builder Job Description This role focuses on building high-quality trusses and wall panels for residential and commercial new construction projects in a fast-paced production environment. You will use hand and power tools, follow detailed work instructions, and work at various stations to assemble structural components that meet precise measurements and quality standards. Responsibilities Assemble trusses and wall panels by placing parts in the specified relationship to each other according to work instructions and production requirements. Bolt, clip, screw, cement, or otherwise fasten parts together using appropriate hand and power tools to create secure and accurate assemblies. Cut materials to specific measurements as needed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to production specifications. Inspect products during and after assembly, removing defective products as needed to maintain quality standards. Tend machines that perform force-fitting or fastening operations on the assembly line, monitoring performance and making basic adjustments as required. Work at different workstations as production needs require, adapting to changing tasks and priorities throughout the shift. Perform tasks in an environment where duties change as varying models and configurations of product are produced. Clean equipment, floors, and work areas according to safety procedures to maintain a safe and organized production environment. Follow all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to facility policies. Perform other related duties as assigned to support production goals and team objectives. Essential Skills At least 6 months of experience using hand and power tools in a production, construction, or similar environment. Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide to support measurement and cutting tasks. Ability to read and interpret a tape measure and apply measurements precisely during cutting and assembly. Ability to read and follow written work instructions and production documentation. Comfort working in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment while maintaining quality and safety. Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday and regularly lift and move 25-50 pounds, with occasional lifting of heavier materials as required. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality assemblies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous carpentry experience is a plus, especially in framing, truss building, or wall panel construction. Experience in a shop, manufacturing, or construction environment is beneficial. Ability to adapt to changing tasks, workstations, and product models during the shift. Strong communication skills to effectively follow directions and coordinate with team members. Willingness to learn new processes and equipment and grow within a production environment. Work Environment You work in a shop and production environment focused on building trusses and wall panels. The role involves continuous standing and walking, frequent use of hands to handle materials and tools, and regular reaching with hands and arms. You occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as tasks require. You continuously lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds with appropriate technique and support.
The position offers multiple shifts:
a first shift from Monday to Friday, typically 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and a second shift from Monday to Thursday, typically 3:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., with voluntary overtime as needed. You work in and around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, electrical risks, and vibration. The noise level is usually loud, and you must wear ear protection, eye protection, and other required personal protective equipment at all times. Work involves building trusses, which span large distances to support roof or floor loads, and wall panels, which consist of studs and sheathing, using standard hand and power tools and following detailed production instructions in a structured, safety-focused environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Cedar, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
