A Production Fabricator or Assembler constructs and assembles a wide range of products, such as engines, computers, aircraft, ships, boats, toys, electronic devices, and control panels, as well as the individual parts that make up these products.
Summary The Firearms Cerakote & Assembly Technician is responsible for the accurate application of Cerakote finishes to firearms and components, as well as the assembly and inspection of AR-15, AR-10, and handgun components, subassemblies, and complete firearms. The technician's primary responsibility is factory Cerakote application, with flex assignments to the assembly line to support production when finishing order volume is lower. This position requires strict adherence to work instructions, quality standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure products meet company and customer specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(include the following; however, other duties may apply.) Prep firearms and components for Cerakote application, including disassembly, degreasing, media blasting, and masking to specification. Mix and apply Cerakote and other ceramic-based coatings using HVLP spray equipment to meet color, pattern, and thickness requirements. Load, monitor, and unload parts through cure ovens according to manufacturer cure schedules. Perform in-process and final quality inspection of finish coverage, adhesion, and cosmetic consistency. Maintain spray booths, guns, blast cabinets, and finishing equipment; manage coating inventory and batch documentation. Review parts to make sure there are no defects, gather necessary tools, and assemble parts as needed to fulfill work order. Read, interpret, and accurately execute work orders, assembly drawings, specifications, and manufacturing instructions. Assemble AR-15, AR-10, and handgun subassemblies and complete firearms according to established procedures and quality standards when assigned to flex support the assembly line. Verify correct components, part numbers, and quantities prior to assembly. Perform functional checks and inspections throughout the assembly process to ensure compliance with specifications. Safely operate hand tools, torque tools, gauges, fixtures, spray equipment, and other assembly and finishing equipment. Conduct firearm test-firing operations in accordance with company safety protocols and range procedures. Complete all required quality assurance documentation, test-fire records, inspection reports, and production paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Identify, document, and report quality concerns, non-conforming materials, or assembly/finishing issues to supervisors and quality personnel. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company policies, safety requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to assembly and finishing efficiency, quality, and workplace safety. Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and flex between Cerakote finishing and firearms assembly duties in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Qualifications
REQUIRED
To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must meet the following: High school diploma or equivalent. Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with small components and assemblies. Ability to read and follow written work instructions, drawings, and manufacturing documentation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to safely handle firearms and ammunition. Ability to safely operate spray equipment, media blasters, and cure ovens, or willingness to be trained and certified. Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
PREFERRED
The following qualifications are preferred, but not required: Cerakote certification or prior hands-on Cerakote/ceramic-coating application experience. Previous firearms assembly, gunsmithing, machining, manufacturing, or mechanical assembly experience. Familiarity with AR-15, AR-10, and handgun platforms. Experience performing quality inspections and completing manufacturing documentation. Knowledge of firearm function testing and troubleshooting.
