Job Title:
Fabrication Technician Job Description The Fabrication Technician performs a variety of manual and machine operations in a modern fabrication and machining environment, including loading and operating CNC and manual mills, running fabrication equipment, and completing basic mechanical assembly tasks. This role supports the production of precision components by following detailed work instructions, reading blueprints and assembly documents, and using measuring tools to verify quality. The position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative manufacturing team in a clean, climate-controlled facility. Responsibilities Load and operate CNC and manual milling machines, and train to load various machines as needed. Read and follow tool lists to assemble required tooling and set tool offsets in machines using touch probes and/or pre-setters. Perform manual fabrication and assembly operations including riveting, masking, installing gaskets, sealing, mechanical assembly, and epoxy bonding. Run various fabrication equipment after setup, including Haeger machines, press brakes, shears, punch presses, spot welders, metal finishing machines, and CNC machines, according to instructions. Complete all process and product-related documentation and inspections associated with assigned work. Maintain a safe and clean work area by following PPE requirements, work rules, and safety regulations. Maintain organization of products, equipment, tools, supplies, ESD materials, part handling areas, and inventory points within the fabrication department. Collaborate with and provide assistance to other areas of manufacturing to support overall production needs. Document work activities by accurately completing production and quality forms. Contribute to a team-oriented environment by accomplishing related tasks and rotating through different processes or jobs as required or directed. Operate in accordance with established company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by management to support fabrication and machining operations. Essential Skills At least 2 years of related experience in machining, metal fabrication, or a similar mechanical field with a solid understanding of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures. Hands-on experience with CNC milling operations, including machine setup and operation. Experience operating punch presses, drill presses, shears, and other basic fabrication equipment. Experience in metal fabrication processes such as cutting, punching, and grinding of sheet metal. Ability to set up and operate machines accurately and safely in a production environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly documents, and related technical drawings. Proficiency using measuring and calibration tools such as calipers and height gauges. Experience working with a variety of milling and metal fabrication equipment, power tools, and measuring devices. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Strong oral and written communication skills to work effectively in a team environment. Detail-oriented, organized, and analytical approach to work and problem solving. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with deburr machines, turret punch presses, and similar fabrication equipment. Welding and fabrication experience, particularly MIG and TIG welding. Experience operating CNC HAAS and/or Okuma machines. Experience programming or editing CNC machine programs. Familiarity with additional precision measuring tools such as micrometers. Experience with CAM or CNC-related software such as GibbsCAM or Mastercam is beneficial. Work Environment The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility in Lewis Center, Ohio, focused on precision fabrication and machining. The environment is organized and safety-conscious, with clear PPE procedures, work rules, and established policies and procedures. Team members work with CNC mills, turret punch presses, deburr machines, press brakes, shears, punch presses, spot welders, metal finishing machines, and various power tools and measuring devices. The position follows a first-shift 5x4x9 schedule that alternates between a 44-hour week and a 36-hour week, with defined daily start and end times across Monday through Friday. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
